The future of the gaming industry

What started out as a simple program where two people bounced a ball back and forth evolved and later became what we now know games to be. If you're familiar with the game Pong, then you know what I mean.

Who would've thought that when William Higinbotham decided to play around with a computer in October 1958, he'd be creating an entire industry that is at an estimated $170 billion. Imagine that.
Gaming has come quite a long way, so it's only right for enthusiasts and critics alike to ask, what does the future of gaming have to offer us?
There's a lot we need to look out for, because gaming will change in the most unconventional of ways.
Since it is such a vast market, gaming is at the forefront of the entertainment industry. It is estimated that by 2022, the entire gaming industry will be worth about $231 billion. That's a lot of money. It only makes sense for the gaming industry to explode in such a manner, as there are always constantly updates and franchises of certain games which bring in millions of dollars in revenue.
