How to win at competitive games

Let's face it... you and I don't like losing. In fact, nobody really does. But in this life, it seems as if we're forced to accept that we're all losers. Luckily, it doesn't have to be that way. Well, at least not with video-games anyway.

Here are a few pointers that you can use to ensure that you stay on top of your game all the time:
Play fair.
Yeah, the thought of losing an intense match or game sucks. No debate there. However, that's not a valid reason for you to start "altering" the outcome. Cheating, in any and all environments, is a deal-breaker, and it proves you to be a weak player.
Understand how your opponent plays.
Games are not just annoying bits of light and information swarming our screens, they're actually about stimulating our brains to be more analytical. this means you can reason more whilst gaming. Don't let your "enhanced abilities" go to waste. Take a few seconds to analyse your environment, regardless of what game you're playing. You might just win.
Know what you're into.
There's no use trying to master all the games in the world, it's pointless. Being the best gamer is not about how many games you've ever played. Rather, it's more about how many times you've actually enjoyed playing them. Sure, dabbing into a bit of this and that won't hurt, but it may confuse you. If different fails, stick to what you know. If it ain't broke, don't fix it, right?
Practice, practice, practice.
You may be unbelievably talented in gaming, but that doesn't have to be an excuse. The only way to truly perfect something is to practice. The more you play, the better you get. By that, I don't mean become recurring insomniacs, instead just try to better your playing quality by taking regular breaks from the console. Trust me, it helps.
Ultimately, I cannot determine your gaming future, nor can I alter it. You need to realize that some have talent, others don't. I'm just helping you to better yourself through gaming.
